Spotlight: Christopher Columbus Lodge #692

Christopher Columbus Lodge #692 Ossining NYOur beloved Order was founded in Ossining, NY in the 1900s as a Mutual Aid Society to assist newly arrived immigrants and their families. In 1917 the Mutual Aid Society decided to become part of the rapidly growing Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) and [their meeting place] became known as Cristoforo Colombo Lodge #692.

One of the Lodge’s greatest achievements in bringing the Italian Heritage to Ossining was in having its annual Columbus Day Celebration, which was held on  the street right in front of our building in the Hollow. In 1958, due to increasing traffic on Rt. 9, this Annual Celebration had to end. Today, Christopher Columbus Lodge #692 is once again back in its traditional role as sponsor of the Columbus Day Celebration in October, as part of Italian Heritage Month, and they look forward to the 10th anniversary of the celebration on October 11, 12 & 13.

They support many charitable organizations through their Grand Lodge and a scholarship is awarded each year to the student who excels in the Italian Language course offered at Ossining High School, along with the Best Athlete Award for male and female students.

The hall facility is available to rent for your next party. Please call the Club at 914-941-4496, to schedule an appointment and discuss your requirements.
