NFL celebrity players & Pocantico School score for the kids!

Former NFL players will be on the basketball court to help raise funds for Pocantico Hills Central School District PTA and "Dreams for Kids" in a fun-filled game set for Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Pace University Gymnasium in Pleasantville, N.Y. , from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The former NFL players will be challenging six teams composed of Pocantico Hills faculty, staff and community members, as well as other local organizations, educational institutions, and fire and police departments.

Dreams for Kids is a non-profit organization founded by former NFL player Lonnie Allgood that is passionate about helping kids reach their dreams in life.

Members of the NFL Alumni Association are teaming up with Allgood to bring this event to the community.

Dreams for Kids helps children and adolescents in need through programs that increase confidence and promote positive development. The celebrity game gives young athletes an opportunity to experience the challenge and joy of participating in a major sporting event against the pros. It is also an exciting and fun-filled evening for the entire community.

As part of the evening’s halftime celebration, Pocantico Hills Central School District will honor graduate Cori Chambers, a former WNBA player and current member of Israel’s professional team, as well as other community members and organizations.

The event is being organized and funded through the efforts of parents, teachers, staff, local community organizations and generous donors. It is fully endorsed by the Pocantico Hills Central School District’s Board of Education.

"This is a worthwhile fund raiser benefiting young people in the community and providing a great evening of wholesome entertainment," said Pocantico School Superintendent Freddie Smith.

Tickets bought in advance are $12 for adults; $8 for children. Tickets purchased at the door are $15 for adults and children. VIP tickets purchased in advance are $50, which includes "meet-and- greet" with the athletes, photo-op and food; and $60 at the door.
