From England with Thanks, Re: Winter Pastimes – December 2008

My son read this article online and was amazed. He said it was like hearing the stories I told him when he was a child about the pure fun of sledding and skating I had as a young girl in Tarrytown.

Henry Steiner has brought those magical memories to life again, particularly noting the songs that were playing on the loudspeakers were also the favorites of Dick Clark’s American Bandstand show. It was a time when all young people converged together with so much laughter and happiness. The ‘sound of silence’ walking in freshly fallen snow was something I have never experienced since those days. Thanks so much for a superb descriptive piece about a jewel of a moment caught in time.
