Investing In Real Estate, Prudential Rand Purchases Broadway Victorian

When Greg Rand, Managing Partner of Prudential Rand Realty, first came to Tarrytown it was as a resident, and he lived on Windle Park. He was very taken by the Village and set out to open a branch of Prudential Rand Real Estate which for years was located in a beautiful Victorian building on Broadway just south of the Washington Irving Intermediate School.

He felt that Tarrytown was at the center of so much and offered the best possible home search options. Its proximity to Manhattan, the Tappan Zee Bridge and major highways for travel in any direction, and a rich historical past were all plusses for Rand. Fast forward to 2008 with the real estate market capturing news headlines daily, but not always with shimmering prospects. For Greg Rand it was time to make a statement, and he did just that by purchasing a magnificent Victorian building at 54 North Broadway in Tarrytown. The property is adjacent to and just north of the Post Office.

“In this down market I wanted people to know that our company has great confidence in the river towns and what better way to prove it than to purchase real estate ourselves,” he said during a recent interview. The office, which is set to open in June, will be managed by Louise Colonna who has been a Sales Manager with Prudential Rand for the past seven years and with the Company a total of eleven years. Overall she has twenty-two years of real estate experience, and was brought to Prudential’s Tarrytown and Briarcliff offices from the Rockland County’s Suffern office which she started in 2001. In 2006 her efforts in Suffern were rewarded and she received the Prudential National Award for the #1 Office for Operational Excellence. “I’ve been through many housing market cycles and know that I can instill confidence in our agents and our clients in the face of the changing real estate markets today,” she said. Colonna’s experience in the real estate market has also been sought by the executives at Prudential Rand who use her skills in training programs for agents.

When asked how he found the Village of Tarrytown to be, Greg Rand had only positive comments about working with local government and the various boards he needed to get approval from. “I have found Tarrytown to be very welcoming and accommodating to our company and specifically in opening our latest office,” he said. He added, “I want residents to stop in and take a tour of the house whenever they’d like to. I want us to be a part of Third Friday festivities and other Village celebrations,” he added.

If there is a silver lining in real estate today it lies in the realization that our communities are still highly sought after as areas in which to live, work and educate our children. Greg Rand realizes that and has positioned his company, quite literally, in the middle of it all.
