Il Sorriso

The month of May brought new ownership to Il Sorriso at 5 N. Buckhout St. in Irvington. William Winstanley is the new owner, succeeding Frank and Maria Salvi, who owned the restaurant for 13 years.

Maria’s brother, Alessandro Daniele, will continue at Il Sorisso as the resident wine expert.

Winstanley is a Chappaqua resident, a graduate of Horace Greeley, who attended Champlain College in Burlington VT., and has extensive restaurant experience. He points out that in addition to Il Sorriso’s large main dining area, there is an outside patio overlooking the Hudson that seats 50, a front dining room overlooking the patio that can be separated for parties of up to 60 people and a wine cellar that seats 16.

Will describes the menu as "traditional Italian" and encourages corporate events and private parties. For reservations call (914) 591-2525.

They are open for lunch and dinner during the week and for brunch and dinner on the weekends. They are closed Monday.
