Filmworks

When Tarrytown resident, Anella Aloia opened "Filmworks" in Dobbs Ferry she was not just looking to open up a simple video rental store, but a place where people could come to learn and discover film culture.

Anella’s life-long passion for film and the arts was the driving force in giving Dobbs Ferry a destination solely dedicated to the appreciation and celebration of the motion picture. In her store, located at 3 Cedar Street (at the corner of Broadway), she has created a diverse library of films for rent and for sale. "Filmworks"’ unique combination of personal, knowledgeable service in a community setting has set it apart from the competition. Anella, a film connoisseur, can recommend a variety of films depending on one’s personal tastes.

One of the other great aspects of "Filmworks" is that you can find something you weren’t even looking for. With approximately 8,000 titles to choose from, the selection process can be quite intimidating. That’s when you simply ask for help. Anella may not have seen all of the films, but she can recommend something based on what you’re looking for or according to what films you have enjoyed in the past.

"Filmworks" is a community business that has a unique and personal touch, that the big rental outlets can’t touch. It also carries books, videogames, and television series on DVD and sponsors occasional lectures and film viewings. "Filmworks" is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 10pm, Sunday 12pm-10pm.
