Wines of Italy Featured at Benefit Evening for Phelps Memorial Hospital

Now in its third year, “An Evening of Food and Wine with Fine Friends” will introduce guests to the wines of the Italian regions of Friuli, Tuscany, Piedmont and Sicily, Friday, April 27 at 6:30 pm, at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown. A benefit for Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, the event will also feature foods reflective of these Italian wine-growing areas, plus a silent auction. Sponsors are Divney Tung Schwalbe and BBL Medical Facilities.

“We’ve asked Tarry Lodge in Port Chester to help us select the wines for tasting,” said David Beckwith of Grand Cru Wine Consulting, who is helping to organize the event. “And, of course, the chefs at Tappan Hill will weave their usual magic in preparing appropriate foods to accompany the various wines. This should be an extraordinary evening of connoisseurship and conviviality.”

“Tuscany, Piedmont and Southern Italy are known for producing wines of exceptional quality,” according to wine columnist Nick Antonaccio of Wine Adventures, LLC, who will lead the tasting. “The evening will be a marvelous wine experience that will make guests feel as if they have been transported to the heart of Italy’s wine country.”

A range of premium and moderately priced red and white wines will be offered for tasting and for purchase at the conclusion of the event. All proceeds will come back to the community through the programs and services of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.
