Hilltop Hanover FarmHilltop Hanover Farm offers weekend workshops, demonstrations, classes on living a sustainable life, including vegetable production, cooking, preserving the harvest and composting. The following is a schedule of their March, 2015 programs.

 

 

Eco Gardening Workshops Series
Saturdays, March 14, April 4, and May 23, 10 a.m. – noon Barn F.

Create your own backyard Garden of Eden while providing sanctuary for creatures large and small.  Classes taught by Kim Eierman, Founder of Ecobeneficial. Mar. 14 – Edible Native Landscapes; April 4 – Backyard Habitat Gardens; May 5 – Native Gardening for Beneficials. Fee: $100 members of Friends of Hilltop Hanover, $120 non-members; or each class $40. Energize New York Energy Coach Talk
Saturday, March 7, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.,  Building A.

How Much Heat Will You (Did You) Waste This Winter? Norm Jen, a certified building performance nstitute contractor, will explain how homes are constructed and what’s going on behind the walls in your attic and basement. Health-Related Cooking Workshops
Fridays, March 13, April 10, & April 24, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m

Taught by Mary Opfer, MS, RD, CDN & Culinary Nutritionist. Learn how to cook and eat to address various health issues that could help you and your family: March 13 – Whole Foods Approach to Decreasing Inflammation; April 10 – The Diabetes-Friendly Kitchen; April 24 – Cooking for Thyroid Disease. Monthly Friday Night Potluck & Film Series
Friday, March 20, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.,  Barn F.

Bring a healthy meal to share and watch a film, meet new people and help celebrate the farm.  Fee: free to members, $5 door charge per family. Online registration required  HilltopHanoverFarm.org.

Fresh Food Talk for Pets
Sunday, Mar, 22, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Join holistic veterinarian Nancy Ying for information to help improve the health of your pet. Fee: $25 non-members, free to members; register by March 1 and save 10%. Online registration required at  HilltopHanoverFarm.org.

Monthly Homesteader Workshops Series
Sundays, beginning March 22, 10 a.m. – noon

A look at many of the things you can do at home to increase your food independence and peace of mind by closing the gap between yourself, your food, and the land. Mar. 28 – Backyard Chickens; Apr. 19 – Lawn to Garden; May 17 – Foraging; June 14 – Composting 101; July 19 Backyard Greenhouse    7; Aug. 16 – Seed Saving. Fee $180 non-members, $150 members; each class $35. Register by March 1 and save 10%. Online registration required at HilltopHanoverFarm.org.

Volunteer Workshop
Saturday, March 28, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
