What’s a MOGO? The Village is pleased to be supporting an initiative led by our friends in the Town of Ossining to create routes from our downtown to the North County and South County Trails. Millwood-Ossining-Go! has worked with WCC to create several routes, and this ride is your first opportunity to ride with an escort!
This weekend’s ride is also helping to give us a head start on our celebration of Car Free Day on Friday, September 21st. This year Ossining will join communities across the Hudson Valley in this initiative to encourage greener transit options.
Westchester Bike Club’s Kate and Victor will lead a multi-level group using a modified version of the Briarcliff Route, starting at Ossining High School. The group will make our way to the trail and ride for a while, (the distance can be modified and/or differentiated depending on the needs of the group) and then ride back to OHS for Victor’s famous Flat Tire Workshop (optional).
There will be lots of support during the ride, and the program will begin with a safety talk. But please be prepared with a working bike (with gears–yes there are some hills). There will be a pump and someone to help you at the start, but if you have not been out on your bike for a while, it’s a good idea to take it to a local bike shop to get tuned up. A helmet is a MUST and please bring a water bottle.
Rain will cancel the ride. If you’re on Facebook, visit the Millwood-Ossining GO Inaugural Community Bike Ride event page for updates by 7:00am that morning.
