Sitting on PURPOSE

Lynn Trotta of Sagefire Institute will introduce the ancient practice of Sit Spot as a form of daily meditation. Unlike other forms of meditation, Sit Spot is practiced outside, where nature becomes the Master and thus draws forth the Master within. Participants will be given the inspiration and key elements to integrating this life changing practice into their everyday living so they may:

  • experience a greater sense of peace
-feel more connected to the natural world than they ever have before
  • feel healthier, more alive and more connected
  • discover a profound sense of gratitude

Please dress appropriately for the weather and provide for your personal level of comfort. Bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on as most of the program will occur outdoors.  Adults only. Free for members, $5 for non-members. Programs require pre-registration. To register, call 914-762-2912 x110. Meet at Cliffdale Farm.

Saturday April 26, 1:00– 3:00 pm

Every Day is Earth Day

Give thanks to the earth at Teatown for all the abundance of nature! Take part in our Eco-quest designed by our volunteer group, Teens and Teatown, then explore the dirt as an art material, and make a painting with dirt pigment stains and colorful crushed rock pigments on watercolor paper.  This workshop is a great way to gain a whole new understanding of the Earth — a creative, hands-on celebration for Earth Day!  Guided by Strawtown Studio Artists/Educators. All Welcome. Free for members, $5 for non-members. Programs require pre-registration. To register, call 914-762-2912x 110.

Sunday, April 27, 10:00 am–2:00 pm
Muscoot Farm with ClubFit

ClubFit Jefferson Valley Parking Lot (opposite Toys R’ Us)
Muscoot Farm is a delightful place with farm animals and a network of well-marked trails. This moderate hike features the history written in the landscape: old stone walls, large trees, stone culverts and the results of many years of plowing in the same direction. Good physical condition and hiking boots are required. Bring lunch and something to drink. Inclement weather cancels this program. Adults only. Free to Teatown/ClubFit members and their guests. Programs require pre-registration. To register, call 914-762-2912 x110.
