Tarrytown Boat & Yacht Club “Here To Stay”

The Tarrytown Boat & Yacht Club is pleased to announce that it has taken steps to ensure that it will remain a vital part of Tarrytown and the entire Hudson River community for decades to come.  The Club, which has been in existence since 1906, was created to promote boating on the Hudson and to be a conscientious steward of the river and the communities that surround it.  The Club, which owns the land on which the current clubhouse and restaurant are located, has operated the Tarrytown Marina for many years, to a large extent on underwater property leased from the Village of Tarrytown.

Recently, Tarrytown Boat & Yacht Club has entered into two long-term agreements intended to perpetuate the Club and to upgrade the Marina as part of the overall improvements to the Tarrytown waterfront.  It has signed a 99-year extension of its lease with the Village of Tarrytown for the underwater property utilized by the Marina, and simultaneously subleased that property and turned over operations of the Marina itself to the developer of Hudson Harbors at Tarrytown, an adjacent newly built residential development on the Hudson.  The new entity, Tarrytown Marina, LLC, has undertaken to dredge the marina, upgrade the slips, construct a new clubhouse for the Club, and has the option to replace the current building with a new restaurant facility.

Jerry Gregory, Commodore, has stated: “Contrary to rumors being circulated in the area, the Tarrytown Boat & Yacht Club has not been sold.  Under the agreement with Tarrytown Marina LLC, the Club will be receiving a new freestanding clubhouse on property that it owns and has been guaranteed a number of slips for the use of its members throughout the long-term agreement.  We look forward to creating a first-class marina operation.”  The Tarrytown Boat & Yacht Club expects to remain a vibrant member of the community far into the future.
