Incumbents Mimi Godwin and Joe Lillis, both of Tarrytown, will be joined by newcomer Craig Laub to vie for 3 seats on the Board.Laura Copeland will not stand for re-election.
Godwin, who lives in Wilson Park, has been on the Board for 10 years, the last three as President.
Mimi’s expertise is in the area of curriculum and instruction.She holds a B.A. in History from Marymount (1968) and a Master‚Äôs in History from Duke (1969). She is a Past President of the PTSA and Past Vice President of the Westchester District PTA. She is also a current member of the Tarrytown Education Committee and is the mother of two Sleepy Hollow High School graduates.
Lillis resides in Philipse Manor and has been an 18-year Board Member. He holds a BS in Education (1974) and an MS from Wisconsin (1978).He has an MBA from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School (1983) and is a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Chase.He taught mathematics for seven years at the secondary level, and his current expertise on the Board is budgeting and district finances. He was President of the Board for 4 years. Two of his children are in the school district now and one has graduated.
Laub, from Sleepy Hollow Manor, will be standing for first- time election for the School Board.Laub also has financial expertise and is a Financial Advisor and VP for Klingman & Associates.He is a former one-term Trustee for the Village of Sleepy Hollow and currently serves on Sleepy Hollow’s Tree Commission.He has three children all in the school district.
