Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks Kick Off Bicycle Sundays May 3

Westchester Parks Foundation will kick off the 52nd Annual Bicycle Sundays season on Sunday, May 3, welcoming residents and visitors back to the Bronx River Parkway for another season of car-free outdoor recreation.

Held on select Sundays throughout the spring, summer, and fall, Bicycle Sundays opens nearly 6.5 miles of the Bronx River Parkway to bicyclists, skaters, joggers, and walkers of all ages, creating a safe and scenic environment free of vehicular traffic. The program is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners, through generous donations from co-presenting sponsors Con Edison and NewYork-Presbyterian Danny Cycles in Scarsdale is the official Bicycle Sponsor. The event attracts more than 60,000 residents and visitors each year.

Back by popular demand, earlier hours will be added for Sundays in June and July, giving participants the opportunity to enjoy the parkway during cooler morning hours.

The 2026 Bicycle Sundays schedule includes:

  • May: 3, 10, 17, 31 — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • June: 7, 14, 21, 28 — 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • July: 12, 26 — 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • September: 13, 20, 27 — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Westchester County Parks Commissioner Kathy O’Connor said: “Bicycle Sundays showcases the very best of Westchester County Parks—accessible, active, and community-driven. Whether you’re biking, walking, or jogging, the program offers a safe and scenic setting for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy the Bronx River Parkway. We’re especially excited to offer earlier hours in June and July, giving participants a cooler, more comfortable way to start their day in the parks.”

First launched in 1974, Bicycle Sundays has become a beloved Westchester tradition, offering a unique way to experience the natural beauty of the Bronx River Reservation and the historic Bronx River Parkway, recognized as the nation’s first parkway and a designated National Historic Landmark.
