43 Artist-Painted Pumpkin Sculptures Take Over Six Hudson Valley Villages

Kristina Schmidt and Gloria Marerro Artists Visiting Pumpkins

A glowing Cinderella coach. A 250th-birthday Americana mosaic. A kraken climbing out of its pumpkin. A life-size take on Munch’s The Scream. These are a few of the 43 one-of-a-kind pumpkin sculptures now turning Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown into an outdoor art gallery — and every one of them is up for auction until Sunday, November 1 at 9 PM.

The 2026 Rivertowns Pumpkin Trail is a new regional public art exhibition organized in partnership with the mayors of all six villages. Local artists transformed professionally finished fiberglass pumpkins into original works now on display along Main Streets, at train stations and outside village halls. The artists range from high school students and teachers to a Google design leader and an illustrator whose work has appeared in Times and The Wall Street Journal.

“The Rivertowns share a river, a legend and a love of Halloween. This fall they share a gallery. Every pumpkin on the Trail is a gift from an artist to their neighbors, and the auction lets someone carry that home,” said Kristina Schmidt, founder of the Rivertowns Pumpkin Trail.

See Them on Parade this Saturday

A lead sponsor Harley Falasca who built and donated over 42 pedestals to make the gallery happen, along with the  Gallery founder, who fabricated the 43 sculptures from home, teamed up to build an epic 24 foot parade float called the “Steam Punk’in Factory”. Pumpkin Trail sculptures will ride on this special thematic float in the Tarrytown Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 24, starting off at 5 PM along Broadway in Tarrytown — a chance to see the art up close before bidding closes.

The exhibition runs through Sunday, November 1, with three ways for the public to take part.

A Celebration of Art and Community

The Rivertowns Pumpkin Trail shows how public art can bring neighbors together across village lines, celebrate local talent and give families a reason to explore close to home. The Trail’s hand- built wooden pedestals were donated by Falasca Home Improvement.
