ArtsRock Executive Artistic Director, Elliott Forrest, along with Hudson Valley musicians Tom Chapin, Lily Chapin, Abigail Chapin and Michael Mark, presented a check for $1500 to Elaine Philhower of Soup Angels of Nyack at the Angel Nyack. This contribution was made possible through the generosity of members of the community who attended the Tom Chapin Birthday Celebration Concert in Nyack on May 18th. The event was attended by over 500 people and the generosity of our audience members helps to support Soup Angels mission to “offer hot, nutritious, freshly prepared meals in a dignified and caring environment to anyone in need of a meal and companionship in our community.” Audience members also donated money and food items for the Soup Angels food pantry and the event inspired a number of people to offer their support as volunteers.
ArtsRock is tremendously grateful to all who supported Soup Angels through this event and to Tom Chapin, the Chapin family and all the musicians for generously giving their time and talent to help our community. In addition to his extensive career as a GRAMMY award-winning recording artist, concert performer, storyteller and activist, Tom Chapin has long been an advocate for issues of hunger and social justice, and we are so grateful to him for choosing to celebrate his 80th birthday by supporting Soup Angels.
