To celebrate Earth Day, organizers from the Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park, Win Waste Innovations, and the City of Peekskill are hosting a community clean-up day on April 27 from 12 pm-4 pm at Tompkins Park.
“We invite all of our Peekskill neighbors to celebrate Earth Day by taking action to restore our communities and protect the planet. Every sustainable choice we make and every piece of litter we remove helps create a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone. This year, we’re calling on volunteers to help clean up the Peekskill Dog Park and surrounding areas—let’s work together to keep our community and green spaces beautiful,” said Sabina Flagg, President of Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park.
We are thrilled that our community partner WIN Waste Innovations will be supporting us for our 4th Earth Day cleanup, by providing tools, gear, volunteers, and complimentary removal of the debris collected.
“As my first year supporting the Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park and serving as Vice President on the Board, I’m thrilled to give back to this incredible community. The park is a cherished space for so many dogs and their owners, and we can all take pride in keeping it clean and welcoming. I invite everyone to join us this Earth Day to make a meaningful impact on our neighborhood and the environment!” said Rachel Bushner, Vice President of Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park
The Friends of the Peekskill Dog Park will be hosting a 50/50 raffle to support the efforts of ongoing clean-up days, along with dog park improvements: shade sails, dog wading pools, a community bulletin board, and new additions to our overall beautification of the Peekskill Dog Park.
“We are really excited about helping get the park spruced up once again,” says Mary Urban, WIN Waste Senior Director of Communications and Community. “It is right in line with our business of cleaning and greening the places we call home. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of a community that provides great open spaces and areas for our communities to come together.”
This Earth Day Cleanup event is being coordinated at the local level by various partners, including the City of Peekskill, Win Waste Innovations, and Home Depot. For more information, please visit www.friendsofthepeekskilldogpark.org or email us at friendsofthepeekskilldogpark@gmail.com.
