Earlybird owners Heather Kim and Katie Mayer are hosting Westchester’s Great Pie Bake-Off and a ribbon cutting with the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce to officially celebrate their grand opening. The event is Sunday, November 16th at 2PM.
County Executive Ken Jenkins, Village Mayor Steve Vescio, and lifestyle influencer Stacey Winnik are the celebrity judges who will determine the best pie in a variety of categories. The bake-off takes place at Earlybird, located at 1191 Pleasantville Rd in the heart of the village’s shopping district. Attendees will also be able to groove to the beats of live music by School of Rock of Briarcliff during this event, as well as cast their votes for a People’s Choice award.
Earlybird’s locally roasted beans, in-house baked goods, and sweet and savory menu items reflect their commitment to fresh meals from well-sourced ingredients. Their offerings include gluten-free options.
Kim and Mayer first crossed paths while working in the fashion industry. Drawn by their mutual admiration for each other’s talent and work ethic, they partnered on their first Earlybird shop in their Riverdale neighborhood a few years ago.
Kim grew up working in her father’s restaurants and baking with her mother’s recipes that have been passed down through the generations, and says, “I design spaces that feel good and do good–where beautiful design meets clean, healthy food and the finest locally-roasted coffee assortment that New York has to offer.”
Mayer was so drawn to Briarcliff Manor’s community that she recently became a resident. She applies her experience as a stylist on photo and video shoots to everything from furniture choices to curated art shows and operational efficiency. Mayer says her current focus is, “to connect further with the local community. We have this amazing space and hope to share it to host this event and more. I am currently creating a lineup of local artists that would like to feature work for a season.”
Althema Goodson, Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce President, remarks on the significance of businesses working together, “Every new business is an opportunity to strengthen the whole community. We are excited to officially welcome Earlybird to the Greater Ossining business community with a ribbon cutting at the big bake-off.”
Attendees are invited to register. Bakers who think they have what it takes to compete are encouraged to arrive on November 16th by 1:45PM with their pie. Anyone with further questions can email earlybirdbm@gmail.com.
