Jazz Forum Announces June 2025 Shows

Jazz Forum heats up June with a stellar lineup celebrating the club’s 8th anniversary and Jazz Forum Arts’ 40th year. Major recording artists and international touring musicians bring the vibrant diversity of jazz to life, reflecting the organization’s mission to connect audiences with the genre’s global roots. Don’t miss this milestone month of unforgettable music!

Since opening in 2017, Jazz Forum has established itself as a beacon for jazz and live music lovers in Westchester County and beyond and has been recognized by Downbeat Magazine in 2024 and 2025 as one of the top jazz venues worldwide.

“Making it through the pandemic was no small feat, but here we are, eight incredible years after opening in 2017, celebrating the anniversary of Jazz Forum in Tarrytown. The Bill Charlap Trio is a jazz super-group with three brilliant, accomplished talents – David Wong, bass and Kenny Washington, drums. Their dazzling interplay and near-telepathic communication is spectacular and Bill Charlap has earned a GRAMMY Award and multiple nominations, plus raves from audiences everywhere. Downbeat gave Charlap’s new live recording, And Then Again, 4 ½ stars, placing them among “the best of the best ensembles in jazz history” playing at “the epitome of their creative powers.”

Jazz trombonist, composer, and arranger Ed Neumeister is a highly inventive performer whose sound can straddle the line between avant-garde free jazz, swinging post-bop, and modern classical. The quartet also features Gary Versace; Drew Gress; Tom Rainey

Often recognized for his big band work, Neumeister came up on the vibrant West Coast scene of the mid-’70s before establishing himself in New York as a member of the Mel Lewis Big Band.

World-renowned jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli was called “Hip with a wink” by Town &Country, “madly creative” by The Los Angeles Times and “the genial genius of the guitar” by The Toronto Star. The trio includes John Pizzarelli, guitar/vocals, Isaiah J. Thompson, piano, and Michael Karn, bass

John remains one of the most acclaimed interpreters of classic and modern song and an influential advocate for the continuing evolution of the American standards songbook. AllAboutJazz.com gave his 2023 album Stage Screen 4 stars, calling it “enduring music.”

June 15: Valery Ponomarev Quintet

The first major Russian jazz musician to make an impression in the United States, Valery Ponomarev has always had an attractive tone, a swinging style, and a strong interest in keeping the hard bop legacy of Clifford Brown alive.

After playing in Russia for many years, he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, a perfect outlet for his style, from 1977-1980; he recorded nine albums with Blakey for such labels as Roulette, Timeless, and Concord. Featured in multiple documentaries—including Frozen in AmberMessenger from Russia (aired on National Geographic Today), and Trumpet-player from Russia—Ponomarev is a celebrated trumpeter whose life and music embody the spirit of cultural exchange.

Jon Faddis is a Grammy Award–nominated jazz trumpet player, conductor, composer and educator. Born in Oakland, California, he began playing the trumpet at age eight, inspired by seeing Louis Armstrong on the Ed Sullivan Show.

After playing with Charles Mingus in his early 20s, Faddis became a noted studio musician in New York, recording with numerous jazz luminaries including Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Anthony Braxton, Charles Mingus, and Lalo Schifrin, among others. His original compositions may be heard on his Grammy-nominated RemembrancesHornucopiaInto the Faddisphere, and Teranga.

In addition to forming his own quartet, Faddis has directed several orchestras, including the Grammy-winning United Nations Orchestra, the Dizzy Gillespie 70th Birthday Big Band, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, and the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra of New York.

Jon De Lucia is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist, clarinetist and composer. Originally from Quincy, MA, he moved to New York City in 2005.

Thanks to the mastery of De Lucia and the others, The Brubeck Octet is far more than a pleasant trip down memory lane; it stands on its own as an impressive cross-section of contemporary small-group jazz at its zenith.

Lauded as one of the jazz world’s fastest-rising stars, 25-year-old Ekep Nkwelle‘s extraordinary vocal talent has drawn comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald. She’s earned a prestigious Juilliard Career Advancement Grant and was First Runner-Up in The Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Voice Competition.

This Washington, D.C. native began studying music as a pre-teen, has performed with giants like Russell Malone and Cyrus Chestnut, and has recently toured with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra. All About Jazz called her “… a rising star of her own.”

June 29: Susan Pereira & Sabor Brasil

Vocalist, pianist, percussionist, composer and arranger Susan Pereira is one of the most versatile musicians on New York’s Brazilian music scene, and leads the acclaimed Brazilian jazz group Sabor Brasil (co-founded with drummer Vanderlei Pereira). The lineup includes Susan Pereira, voice/piano/percussion; Noah Bless, trombone; Steve Sandberg, piano; Leo Traversa, bass & Vanderlei Pereira, drums

While deeply rooted in traditional Brazilian styles, Susan’s broad background in jazz and world music has enabled her to develop a distinct musical personality. Fluent in Portuguese, she is a singer who blends a silky, rich tone with superior vocal technique, and is a particularly skilled lyric interpreter and scat singer.
