For the third summer in a row, the veil between the living and the dead grows thin at the historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Lovely Calamity Productions, in cooperation with Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, announced the return of the immersive production, The Hill: Stories from Spoon River.
Adapted by playwright Cristina Noelle from Edgar Lee Masters’ 1915 masterpiece Spoon River Anthology, this June, audiences will once again be led by lantern light through the winding paths of the necropolis to hear the dead speak for themselves.
An Unparalleled In Situ Experience
Guided by the wandering minstrel Fiddler Jones, audiences will once again journey by lantern light through the winding paths of the necropolis to hear the dead speak for themselves. The performance is staged in situ, using the natural, atmospheric beauty of the cemetery as a living set.
“There is something profoundly moving about hearing these epitaphs—which range from hilarious to deeply tragic—while standing among the headstones,” says Noelle. “The synergy between Masters’ words and the beauty of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery creates a truly magical experience.”
