Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT) announced that 10 TSTT students from Peekskill City School District participated in Pace University’s Camp CryptoBot, held July 27–31 on the University’s Pleasantville Campus. The immersive five-day summer program introduced students to the exciting world of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, coding, cryptography, and other emerging technologies while encouraging innovation, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Camp CryptoBot is led by Dr. Pauline Mosley, Professor of Computer Science at Pace University’s Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems and Director of the Seidenberg Creative Labs. Under her leadership, students engaged in hands-on activities that challenged them to think critically, develop technical skills, and explore the rapidly expanding opportunities available in STEM careers.
One of the highlights of the camp was students’ interaction with Pepper the Robot, Pace University’s humanoid social robot. Pepper the Robot along with Pace Professor Lisa Ellrodt, demonstrated how robotics and artificial intelligence are transforming education, healthcare, business, and everyday life. Students enjoyed engaging with Pepper, asking questions, and experiencing firsthand how AI-powered technologies are reshaping the future. The experience sparked curiosity and excitement while demonstrating the limitless possibilities that technology offers.
As part of the camp experience, Dr. Bettye H. Perkins, Founder and CEO of Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers, served as a guest speaker, encouraging students to embrace STEM education and recognize its growing importance for aspiring educators as well as students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
“STEM education is no longer optional—it is essential,” said Dr. Perkins. “Whether our students become teachers, engineers, scientists, technology professionals, or leaders in other fields, a strong foundation in science, mathematics, and technology prepares them to think critically, solve complex problems, and innovate for the future. As we prepare the next generation of educators, it is equally important that they understand how technology—including artificial intelligence and robotics—can enhance teaching and learning while inspiring future generations of students.”
Dr. Perkins also spoke about the critical role educators play in preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven world. She encouraged participants to remain curious, continue exploring STEM disciplines, and recognize that tomorrow’s teachers must be prepared to integrate emerging technologies into the classroom to help students succeed in the careers of the future.
“Technology is changing how we teach, learn, communicate, and solve problems,” Dr. Perkins added. “The educators of tomorrow must not only understand these advancements but also inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders who will shape our world.”
Participation in Camp CryptoBot reflects TSTT’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success in college, careers, and leadership by providing enriching educational experiences beyond the traditional classroom. Through strategic partnerships with colleges, universities, school districts, and community organizations, TSTT continues to expose students to cutting-edge learning opportunities that strengthen academic achievement and expand career pathways.

TSTT’s Mikayla Walters, Jessica Reader and Program Director Rosario Samudio were also on hand at the camp. Culminating the week’s activities, parents were invited to attend the closing ceremony, where they celebrated the students’ accomplishments and toured Pace University’s beautiful campus.
