Tarrytown’s Music Hall

Your local theater is in gear with its busiest season yet, with events for children, a Stanley Kubrick film series, and concerts by such renowned artists as Chris Botti, Lea Salonga, Cowboy Junkies, Ralph Stanley, and the finalists (including the winner) of NBC’s Last Comic Standing Live, to name just a few.

The Music Hall is proud to announce its new membership program – members, besides supporting their local theater, receive first dibs on seats before sales are opened to the general public.

The Music Hall also now offers sponsorship opportunities for companies and businesses that are looking to gain visibility or express their sense of service to the local and regional community.

The Music Hall, built in 1885, is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and is the oldest operating theater in Westchester. Managed by a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, educational, and cultural organization, the 843-seat Music Hall is home to first class live performances and films, and serves tens of thousands of people living and working in the tri-state area. It is Westchester’s premier venue for children’s theater – every year, over 30,000 children are educated and entertained through daytime school shows and/or family productions. Hundreds more learn to sing, dance, act, or play an instrument on the theater’s stage. The Music Hall recently received The Westchester Arts Council’s 2007 Arts Award and was voted The Best Place For Children’s Theatre by readers of both The Westchester Magazine and The Westchester Parent Magazine. This past year, the Music Hall donated over $45,000 of in-kind support to visiting not-for-profit organizations, making performances possible.

The theater is in the beginning stages of restoration – one of the first phases of an historic structures report will be completed this year with funding from The New York State Council on the Arts. In April 2007, the Music Hall secured a mortgage and purchased the property behind the theater in preparation for its future restoration and expansion.
