To the Editor:
I got my start in politics running against Tom Abinanti for Westchester County Legislator. I won and Tom lost. Since that time we both have worked together on many issues and Tom has been very helpful to me, making my job as Greenburgh Town Supervisor much more successful. I am writing this letter to encourage residents of Mount Pleasant to vote for Tom Abinanti for Mt Pleasant Town Supervisor because I know that Tom will do an exceptional job if he is elected.
During Tom’s service as a NY State Assemblyman Tom always helped the town of Greenburgh to the maximum . He didn’t just show up at press conferences announcing his support. He delivered. He helped the town obtain grants for sidewalks and pedestrian safety improvements. He assisted school districts address infrastructure needs. He supported efforts to create more affordable housing. He worked with the town to address flooding.
During Tom’s service as a Legislator he pushed for a couty stormwater management law requiring cooperation on drainage basins.
Tom was also effective in helping the town reduce property taxes by raising money from hotel visitors to help fund local initiatives and reduce reliance on property taxes. He succeeded in getting a hotel tax approved. He also worked harder than any state or county official trying to keep the town together and to avoid a break up with Edgemont.
Tom’s efforts to help the disabled are well known and appreciated by many. He is honest, independent of the political bosses and will oversee a government that is responsive to the people. Voters will not be disappointed if Tom is elected Town Supervisor of Mt Pleasant.
