Presidential-Sized Inspiration

President's DayCould you imagine being the President for a day? And I’m not talking about a day in which he’s hunting Easter eggs on the great lawn with a bunch of children or playing hoops with LeBron; nope, that’s way too easy.  Think more like a day when he has to decide whether or not to declare war, or he has to deal with a major natural disaster or even worse, a terrorist attack. I think all our problems would fade in an instant, quickly replaced with copious amounts of stress, pressure felt like that of the Empire State building resting on your chest, and undoubtably bad press following any decision made.

With the weight of a fat, corporate, corn-producing, energy wasting, ponzy scheming, financially challenged America on their shoulders, I thought this as good a time as any to offer up some inspirational quotes from these big men who have gone before us and who have displayed unyielding determination and perseverance throughout generations.

Below are some great quotes from notable men from our past that can be used to provide inspiration, motivation and determination. When you feel a task is insurmountable and you haven’t the strength to tackle it (like getting out of bed and heading to the gym at 5 am, or insert own reasoning here as to why you can’t exercise today), use the words below and let them be your guide so that you can accomplish any and all that you set your mind to, be it fitness-related, food-related, hell, even family-related—in-laws coming over? Feeling like you want to press the ‘nuke’ button? I’m sure a President has had that thought cross their mind more than once!

So pick a quote, write it out, and when you’re feeling overwhelmed, repeat it over and over in your mind and know that you can do it, you can stick with it and you can accomplish it, whatever “it” may be!

Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own mind – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

It is common sense to take a method and try it. If all fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

You can do what you have to do, and sometimes you can do it even better than you think you can – Jimmy Carter

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are – Theodore Roosevelt (This one is my favorite, I use it a lot.)

Happy President’s Day!
