Where We Are and Where We’re Headed

We checked in with the Villages of Briarcliff Manor, Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, and Irvington to see how Sandy and other issues shaped the past six months, and what residents of the four Villages can look forward to in the months to come.

While the rest of us view December as the end of the year, municipalities, with a fiscal year beginning in June, see it as the half-way marker. The joy of preparing next year’s budget begins in earnest in December and January, while the ramifications of events – in the summer and fall – on the current budget begin to affect plans for winter and spring.

The most obvious unexpected event of the past six months blew into the Rivertowns, sang Hopelessly Devoted To You and left region-wide power-outages and felled trees in its wake. We checked in with the Villages of Briarcliff Manor, Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, and Irvington to see how Sandy and other issues shaped the past six months, and what residents of the four Villages can look forward to in the months to come.
