The Yorktown Lions’ annual cereal drive is collecting boxes of breakfast food for a local pantry.

The drive runs through February 28, and collection sites are located at Town Hall and the John C. Hart Memorial Library.

“Yorktown is a community built on the strength of our neighbors, and there is no greater reflection of that spirit than the Yorktown Lions’ annual cereal drive,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman, a former president and member of the Yorktown Lions. “For many of us, a box of cereal is a simple pantry staple, but for a family struggling with food insecurity, it represents the dignity of a reliable meal and a healthy start to the day for their children.”

National Cereal Day is March 7. According to Zippia.com, the most popular cereal brands are:

  • Cheerios
  • Frosted Flakes
  • Honey Nut Cheerios
  • Honey Bunches of Oats
  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  • Froot Loops
  • Lucky Charms
