The Friends of Tarrytown Parks and Recreation Launch a New Foundation

The Friends of Tarrytown Parks and Recreation Inc. today announced that they have received IRS approval to launch a new 501(c)(3) Foundation. The mission of the new foundation is to support, enhance, educate, and promote recreational services offered to all residents of the Village of Tarrytown.

The Foundation will work in unison with the Village of Tarrytown Department of Parks and Recreation and will focus on enhancing existing programming and will help the Department launch new initiatives focused on recreation and green space priorities.

By setting up a Foundation, the concerned residents from the Tarrytown community will expand their ability to apply for important sponsorships, grants, scholarships and additional resources that can make a meaningful impact on program scale and quality.

“We have been working on creating this new foundation for the past four years, and we are thrilled to finally receive 501(c)(3) status from the IRS,” said founder and president Jim Desimone. “The Foundation will be key in helping the Village access vital resources to improve the recreational and parks experience for everyone in our community.”

Dan Walczewski, Recreation Superintendent for the Village of Tarrytown, added, “I’m excited to partner with this new foundation, and everyone in the Tarrytown community, to ensure that our parks and recreation programs and services are as wide-ranging and as high-quality as possible.”
