Irvington Middle School seventh grader Finlay Albright-Cook recently brought an inspiring and age-appropriate lesson on neurodiversity to kindergartners at Dows Lane Elementary School.

As an active member of the Neurodiversity Think Tank, he collaborated closely with inclusion coach Caroline Knudsen to develop a thoughtful presentation designed to help young learners understand and celebrate the many ways brains can function and learn.

During his presentation, Finlay Albright-Cook shared key concepts of neurodiversity, emphasizing that every brain is unique. He also courageously shared his own story, highlighting both challenges he has faced and successes he has achieved. His message embodied many of the qualities outlined in Irvington’s Portrait of a Graduate, including strong communication skills, self-awareness, and a deep sense of kindness, empathy and inclusion.

The session concluded with a lively and meaningful discussion, as the kindergartners posed thoughtful questions and shared their own reflections on the topic.

“We are incredibly proud of Fin for his dedication and the lasting, positive impact he continues to make in the Irvington UFSD community,” Knudsen said.
