The Friends of The Kensico Cemetery presented a $25,000 check today to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, representing the funds raised during the organization’s annual fall 5K Run/Walk held on October 26th, 2025, at The Kensico Cemetery and Arboretum in Valhalla, NY.
The 5K event brought together more than 230 participants of all ages from the community, who ran and walked through the cemetery and arboretum’s vast 460 acres of fall foliage. Following the race, attendees enjoyed a catered breakfast, awards for top participants, and raffle prizes.
The $25,000 donation will support the many programs the Club provides to nearly 1,000 children enrolled in Boys & Girls Club activities, including programs promoting water safety, nutrition, education, and athletics. Through these programs, 100% of the Club’s high school seniors have graduated on time and continued to college, technical school, or military service for 16 consecutive years.
Speaking on behalf of BGCNW, Alyzza C. Ozer, Esq., CEO, said, “We are deeply grateful to Friends of The Kensico Cemetery for their generosity and commitment to our community’s youth. The funds raised will directly support our mission to provide a safe, enriching environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. This partnership exemplifies how compassion and community spirit can come together to change lives.”
The 5K event also supported Friends’ mission to preserve and foster public appreciation of the history, culture, and heritage of The Kensico Cemetery—something participants experienced firsthand as they walked the grounds.
Matthew G. Parisi, President of Kensico Cemetery and Friends, said, “We extend our sincere appreciation to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester, along with its dedicated staff and volunteers, for helping make this year’s 5K an outstanding success. The enthusiasm, teamwork, and community spirit demonstrated by the BGCNW team truly embody the organization’s mission and values. We are proud to support such an exceptional organization that continues to make a lasting, positive impact on our community.
