Croton Residents to Rally Ahead of Town Vote Against Project Maple Pipeline Expansion

On Wednesday evening, residents of Croton and surrounding communities will gather outside Village Hall to call on local officials to pass a resolution opposing “Project Maple” — a controversial fracked gas pipeline expansion plan that would increase fossil fuel infrastructure along the Algonquin Pipeline through Westchester County.

Project Maple, proposed by Canadian fossil fuel giant Enbridge, would expand the Algonquin Gas Transmission pipeline by installing larger pipe and expanding compressor stations to move even more fracked gas through the region — locking New York into decades of fossil fuel use at a time when state law mandates a swift shift to clean energy.

Participants will rally before the Croton Board of Trustees meeting and deliver public comments urging elected officials to vote yes on the resolution and stand against fossil fuel expansion.

WHAT: Rally and public comments in support of resolution opposing Project Maple
WHEN: Wednesday, June 25, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
WHERE: Croton-on-Hudson Village Hall, 1 Van Wyck St, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520
WHO: Local residents, environmental advocates, and organizers with Food & Water Watch and other groups

The Croton vote follows growing momentum across the region against Project Maple, including a recent vote by the Rockland County Legislature to oppose the project — the first such resolution at the county level in New York.
