Community Leaders Convene to Help Local Students Succeed at WCC Foundation Gala

The Westchester Community College Foundation is hosting its 2nd Annual Transforming Futures Together Gala at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown on Wednesday, April 30.

The evening will honor local leaders, spotlight inspiring student stories, and raise money to help more students attend and complete college. Currently, more than 70 percent of students at SUNY Westchester Community College rely on financial aid. The funds raised at this event directly support scholarships and programs that help remove financial barriers and allow students to graduate college and launch successful careers. This year alone, the WCC Foundation will provide more than $3 million in scholarships to support SUNY WCC students on their path to success.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Elinor F. UrstadtPhilanthropy & Leadership Award for decades of civic leadership and dedicated support for education across Westchester.
  • Westchester County Federation of Women’s ClubsCommunity Leadership Award for more than 70 years of empowering women students at SUNY WCC through scholarship and service.
  • Turner Construction CompanyCorporate Citizenship Award for its long-standing commitment to workforce development and impactful community partnerships.

“Every dollar raised helps a student take one more step toward graduation,” said Dr. Belinda S. Miles, President of SUNY Westchester Community College. “This gala is an opportunity to celebrate our students’ achievements and the community partners who make their success possible.”

“This event showcases the power of community and the impact we can make when we come together to support education,” said Cornelia Spring, Chair of the WCC Foundation Board. “We are deeply grateful to our honorees and all our supporters who are helping transform lives through access to higher education.”

The evening, emceed by actor and comedian Chris Williams, will feature dinner, live entertainment, and powerful student stories. Media attendees will have access to photo opportunities and interviews with honorees, WCC leadership, and scholarship recipients.
