Heart Failure Survivor Launches Fundraiser To Inspire Second Acts After 50

Father Groove, Brother Riff & The Congregation

In July 2023, Anthony Geathers, known professionally as Father Groove, faced a life-changing challenge when he suffered heart failure. What could have been the end of a dream became the beginning of a powerful new mission: proving that life after 50 can be a time of reinvention, creativity, and purpose.

Today, Father Groove, alongside fellow bassist Brother Riff and their unique ensemble The Congregation, is launching a fundraising campaign to produce their debut album, Analog, while sharing a message of resilience, courage, and hope.

Unlike traditional bands built around guitars and keyboards, Father Groove, Brother Riff & The Congregation feature an innovative approach centered around multiple bass players, creating a distinctive sound and musical experience that challenges convention and celebrates creativity at every age.

“Our message is simple,” says Geathers. “You are never too old to start over. You are never too old to pursue your dreams. Heart failure changed my life, but it also gave me a new purpose—to help others find the courage to begin their own Act II.”

The fundraising campaign seeks support for the recording and production of Analog, a project dedicated to bringing people together through music while encouraging those over 50 to embrace new opportunities, creative pursuits, and personal transformation.

As part of the initiative, a portion of all funds raised beyond the campaign goal will be donated to the American Heart Association, helping support heart disease awareness, education, and research.

The group’s mission extends beyond music. Their slogan, “Healing Hearts Through the Making of Music,” reflects a commitment to emotional wellness, community building, and inspiring others to overcome life’s challenges.
