The Paramount Hudson Valley Theater will ignite with passion, artistry, and innovation when Leonardo Suarez Paz’s PIAZZOLLA 100: El Nuevo Tango takes the stage on September 26. This one-night-only performance celebrates the revolutionary spirit of Astor Piazzolla while propelling tango into the 21st century.
Latin Grammy Award nominee and “virtuoso extraordinaire” (Wynton Marsalis) Leonardo Suarez Paz leads the internationally acclaimed Nuevo Tango Ensemble and Nuevo Tango Ballet in a multidisciplinary performance that blends music, dance, and multimedia. The result is an immersive journey that honors tango’s traditions while redefining its future.
A fourth-generation tango musician, singer, dancer, and composer, Suarez Paz shares the personal stories he experienced growing up alongside his mentor, Astor Piazzolla — the Argentine-born, New York-raised composer who revolutionized contemporary music. His vision brings to life “harmonically sophisticated arrangements” (Gramophone, UK) that have dazzled audiences from Buenos Aires to New York City.
Having sold out the 2,600-seat Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires and NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, and featured this season at Lincoln Center, PIAZZOLLA 100 has earned praise as a “magnificent performance” (All About Jazz). Now, Hudson Valley audiences will have the rare chance to experience it live in the intimate and historic Paramount setting.
“This is tango for the new century — bold, emotional, and transformative,” said Suarez Paz. “We are thrilled to bring this performance to the Hudson Valley, where the passion of Buenos Aires meets the vibrancy of New York.”
