Friends of Lasdon Annual Plant Sale – May 16th

A new art exhibit, featuring the work of local artists, as well as a new garden vendor section will debut at the 23rd annual Friends of Lasdon Plant Sale. The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Katonah.

Admission and parking are free, and the event will be held rain or shine.
“If you’ve never been to Lasdon before, the annual Friends of Lasdon plant sale is an excellent reason to visit and experience this spectacular park,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. “If you’re someone who attends

the sale every year, you’re sure to enjoy several new enhancements at this year’s sale.”

The new vendors’ section will showcase unique horticultural and botanical-related items for sale, including pottery, garden art, organic food items, wood products and more.
New themed plant selections will include plant species to attract butterflies (milkweed, butterfly weed), and an agro-forestry selection of plants and trees to grow within wooded sites to produce edible products (nut trees, berry plants, and more). Other plant sale selections will include many native plants such as perennials, trees and shrubs along with a host of annuals and hanging baskets. There will also be a selection of herbs, vegetables, hanging flowering plants and special patio planters made up of flowering annuals.
Plants grown by Lasdon Park staff will be on sale to raise funds for a planned glass house conservatory at the park. A special plant rarity section will include hard-to-find specimen plants for the serious collector.
The main house will be open for the public to view a new exhibit of art from the Lasdon Botanical Art workshop, and works from other local artists.
The Garden Shop will be open featuring garden gifts, indoor plants and refreshments.
The Ladle of Love restaurant in Mount Kisco will be on hand to sell their delicious foods in the vendor area.
The Westchester Veterans Museum will be open throughout the day, featuring an exhibit on the Battle of the Bulge and other military displays. Admission to the museum is free.
Proceeds of the plant sale benefit programs within the park and are administered by the Friends of Lasdon, which is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible.
Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is located at 2610 Amawalk Road (Route 35), in Katonah, NY.
