Members of Irvington High School’s Debate Club had an outstanding performance at the TriStates Spring Classic, held on March 1 at New Rochelle High School. The prestigious tournament brought together more than 25 public and private high schools from New York and New Jersey, showcasing the talents of top young debaters in the region.
Seniors and club co-presidents Tane Kim and Harlan Flamm competed at the varsity level; sophomores Zoya Bhandari and Alice Besidski, freshmen Jake Bloom and Neel Rikhy, and the team of freshmen Julianna Flamm and junior Matthew Spektor competed in the Beginner Division.
Thanks to their impressive performances, Irvington secured at least three at-large bids for the TriState championships on March 22 at In-Tech Academy.
“Congratulations to all of our competitors and to club secretary Laiba Shaukat, who contributed to the tournament’s success by serving as a middle school division judge,” club adviser Jennifer Lentini said.
