YMCA Halloween Ball to Celebrate Legends at the Castle in Tarrytown

The Family YMCA at Tarrytown announced today that the nonprofit organization will hold its first annual Halloween Masquerade Ball at the Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown on Friday, October 30 from 8 p.m. to midnight.

imagesUnder the theme, "Celebrating Legends," the YMCA will honor Aubrey Hawes, a longtime member of its Board of Directors and well-known community member. The theme also acknowledges the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, written by the Hudson Valley’s famed author, Washington Irving, and the longevity of the YMCA itself, which has been serving this community for over 106 years.

"We’re planning a fun, exciting event to raise funds for our Strong Kids Campaign, which last year provided support for over 1,100 children and families who otherwise could not afford Y membership or our after school care and summer camps," said Gerry Riera, CEO of the Family YMCA at Tarrytown. "We’re extremely grateful to the sponsors of the Masquerade Ball for their commitment to helping local underserved children at the Y."

Event sponsors include Legends Realty, MetLife, Abbott & Price, Inc., Mahopac National Bank, and Chiboust Bistro and Bakery. Other sponsors include Community Preservation Corporation, Marshall & Sterling, Hudson Health Plan and the Allan Block Agency.

The Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown lends a spectacular setting for a masked ball, with its medieval look and dramatic views. Decorations for the ball will be derived from a "Venetian Masquerade" concept. The evening will include cocktails and live jazz by the Paul Wood Quartet, dancing to the Phase One Orchestra, open bar, a "dinatoire" featuring assorted buffet tables by Equus Restaurant, and dessert extravaganza by Chiboust bakery, as well as a silent auction, and a live auction of intriguing travel and entertainment items donated for the event. A journal and auction catalog will be provided.

Costumes or black tie are required, and masks are recommended. Tickets for the event are $125 each, and must be obtained in advance before October 15. Contact Barbara Turk, Vice President of Marketing and Community Development, for tickets at barbarat@ymcatarrytown.org or by calling (914) 631-4807.
