‘Terror Tales’ Are Ten-Minute Treats at Ossining Theater

From Friday, October 25 through Sunday, October 27, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present Terror Tales, the theater group’s first-ever Halloween 10-Minute Play Festival. A group of spooky Halloween-themed tales, written by WCT playwrights and performed by a large cast of 16 WCT actors, presents a fun and macabre collection of stories featuring ghosts, vampires and assorted creepy creatures.  WCT actor Dan Slavin (Scarborough) will host the evening in true somber and scary style. WCT actor/writer/director Lori M. Myers (Nanuet), author of Crawlspace, a collection of dark fiction and horror, will co-produce the event with WCT Executive Director Alan Lutwin (Ossining). Terror Tales will be held at WCT’s black box performance space at 23 Water St. in Ossining, NY. Kim Chandler (New Rochelle) is the stage manager.

 The Terror Tales are …

Bound by Misha Templar Sinclair, directed by Jessica W. Bonds (Yonkers) with Dan Forman (Yorktown Heights), Benna Strober (Bedford Hills), Robert Santiago (Carmel) and Jake Milano (Yonkers) – In the remote Åsele forest in Sweden, Oskar and Anna’s quiet life is upended by two desperate brothers at their door, setting off a chain of events that will test the limits of love, survival, and the darkness that lurks within.

Laureen Claire and Lora Yuen (both of Ossining) are in Evermore by Kimberly Mallory, directed by Chris Arena, in WCT’s production of Terror Tales running October 25-27.

Evermore by Kimberly Mallory, directed by Chris Arena, with Jeff Callan (Montrose), Laureen Claire and Lora Yuen (both of Ossining) -Pricilla wants it all, a starring role as an actress and romance. When she falls in love with a rich bachelor, she learns what it means to be afraid of the dark.

Mar and Debbie’s Very Haunted Situation written and directed by Serena Norr (Mount Kisco), assistant directed by Harrie Mulé, with Patty Griffith (Ossining), Benna Strober (Bedford Hills), Jake Milano (Yonkers) and Andrew White (Nanuet) – Mar and Deb are fed up with the dating scene until they see a too-good-to-be-true deal for a twisted immersion dating experience. Will they find their true loves or succumb to the horror?

When Marshmallows Burn by Tara Meddaugh (Harrison), directed by Missy Flower (Ossining) with Marisa Lowe (Beacon) and Giovanni Pucci (Congers) – As Sammy and his mother enjoy an autumn campfire together, they notice a disturbing transformation overtaking the young boy which may pose a grave danger to his mother (or at least that squirrel eyeing them from the woods).

In the Blink of an Eye written and directed by Joni Fritz (Peekskill) with Laureen Claire, Gretchen Metzloff, Elaine Hartel (all Ossining) and Jessica Beitscher (Mohegan Lake) – Two young girls, speaking to the other side, learn shocking truths about life and death.

Lucy’s Lament by Evelyn Mertens (Briarcliff Manor), directed by Flori Doyle (Cortlandt Manor) with Jessica Beitscher (Mohegan Lake) – When a plain-looking young woman from a known wealthy family meets a fateful end, what secrets will her ghost reveal 100 years after her death, what retribution will she seek?

Terror Tales will run on Friday, October 25 at 8 pm; Saturday, October 26 at 2pm & 8 pm; and Sunday, October 27 at 3pm.  There will be a talkback with the production team following the Saturday matinee performance. Tickets: $25. To purchase tickets: wct-presents-terror-tales.eventbrite.com

Terror Tales follows another first-ever Halloween happening, Haunted Kill, a free event on October 18, and co-hosted by the Village of Ossining, Placemaking Committee, Recreation and Parks Department, and WCT. The Haunted Kill plays are double casted and directed by WCT member Flori Doyle (Cortlandt Manor). The tales are: Lucky John Coyne, The Leather Man by Loretta Oleck (Ossining), Find Me by Tara Meddaugh (Harrison), and Lucy’s Lament by Evelyn Mertens (Briarcliff Manor). Actors in Haunted Kill are: Brian Bagot (Ossining), Dan Slavin (Scarborough), Jessica Beitscher (Mohegan Lake), Nicole Arcieri (Yonkers), Dan Forman (Yorktown Heights), Robert Santiago (Carmel), Laureen Claire (Ossining), and Rachel Luciani (Mount Pleasant area).
