The Cupcake Kitchen Opens in Irvington

The Cupcake Kitchen on Main Street in Irvington opened its doors just in time for Memorial Day – the official start of the summer. With its long counter, chrome stools and 1950s art deco furniture, the style and design are reminiscent of the old soda shops, and such is the atmosphere that owner Jennifer O’Connell hopes to create.

A native of Westchester County and resident of Irvington, Ms. O’Connell felt the time was right for a fun, family friendly restaurant serving food that "made you feel good – invoked the feeling of a 1950s soda shop – and brought you back to a happy time." The breakfast menu includes homemade waffles, pancakes, muffins and omelets. Lunch offers made-to-order sandwiches, hearty soups in the winter, fresh salads, hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries, plus fountain drinks including shakes, floats, egg creams and sodas. Special cupcakes, cookies and Ms. O’Connell’s signature pound cake (all fresh-baked on premises!) are treats not to be missed and, of course, there’s ice cream – cones, cups, sundaes, ice cream sodas and more. Like everything else at The Cupcake Kitchen, the ice cream is homemade. It is delivered daily from a small, local gourmet ‘Mom & Pop’ shop – small batch ice cream in different flavors and favorites. Ms. O’Connell also hopes to offer birthday parties and catering. Visit The Cupcake Kitchen, 100 Main Street, Irvington, 914-231-6261. Open Sunday – Wednesday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and Thursday – Saturday, 8:00 am-9:00 pm.
