Steffi Nossen Dance to Perform Community Concerts & Benefit Concert

The Steffi Nossen Dance in Education Fund’s (DEF) 42nd annual Community Concerts and Benefit Concert, featuring advanced students of the Steffi Nossen School of Dance, will take place at the Recital Hall of the Purchase College Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th.

Performances of the Community Concerts, with FREE admission to an invited audience of clients of Westchester hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, social service agencies, and community groups, will begin at 6:30 pm. The concerts are an opportunity to experience a live dance performance for those who would otherwise not be able to. We hope that this experience broadens horizons and encourages people to experience the joy of dance for themselves.

Agency personnel are encouraged to contact the DEF at 914-328-1900 or info@steffinossen.org to arrange for their group to attend. Grants from the Westchester Arts Council, Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund, and individual friends of the Dance in Education Fund have helped to make these free performances possible.

The general public is welcome to attend at $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Choreographers who have created new dances for the concerts include Mary Rotella, Director of Dance at Masters School and a resident of Dobbs Ferry; Pleasantville choreographer Annie Doss; Hastings choreographer Adam Barruch; Maureen Glennon, Artistic Director and founder of moe-tion dance and founding member of Freespace Dance; and Kristina Berger, a member of the Eric Hawkins Dance Company who recently performed with the Molissa Fenley Dance Company in San Francisco. They have created works for the Master Classes, Concert Group, and Dance Company of the Steffi Nossen School of Dance.

River Town dance students performing in the concert are Steffi Nossen Dance Company members Layla Meyer of Hastings and Amelia Steinman of Yonkers; Master Class dancers Alondra Cabrera and Pascal Romain of Irvington; Kayla Jackson of Ardsley; and Amelia Bonvento of Tarrytown.

DiMauro Dance, with choreography by founder Jessica DiMauro, will appear as Guest Artists.

The program will be repeated as a benefit for the outreach and financial aid programs of the Dance in Education Fund (DEF) on Saturday March 21st at 8:00 PM. A Silent Auction featuring goods and services, vacations, restaurant meals, and tickets to theatrical and professional sports events will be part of the event as will a reception honoring the cast.
