Sleepy Hollow Girl Receives Top Honors in Irish Dance Competitions

Caroline Murphy, a resident of Sleepy Hollow and a student at the Lynn Academy of Irish Dance, which offers classes to beginner through championship-level students at the former Fordham University Marymount campus in Tarrytown, recently advanced to the open championship level of Irish stepdancing, winning a number of prizes at the regional and international level. 

Caroline, a student at the Washington Irving School, recently competed in the Great Britain Championships, placing 17th in the Under 9 category.

She also placed 14th in the Under 9 category of the Mid-Atlantic Oireachtas competition, which was held in Philadelphia, PA qualifying her for the North American Nationals to be held in Nashville, TN next year. The fourth-grader was also part of the School’s Dance Drama group, which placed first in the New England Oireachtas in November.
