Peekskill Supermarket will officially open its doors with a Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, July 11 at noon, welcoming shoppers to its newest supermarket at 20 Welcher Avenue.

The new market will offer a full-service shopping experience featuring fresh produce, quality meats, fresh seafood, dairy, frozen foods, grocery staples, a hot-food buffet, wholesale pricing on many products, and an extensive selection of international foods reflecting the diversity of the Hudson Valley.
The store will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. until midnight, providing one of the area’s most convenient grocery shopping destinations.
As communities across the nation commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Peekskill Supermarket says its newest location celebrates the same enduring ideals that inspired founder Wilson Bermeo more than three decades ago when he immigrated from Ecuador in pursuit of the American Dream.
Using his family’s life savings, Bermeo opened his first supermarket in Spring Valley in 2012 after spending two years selling fresh produce from the back of a van. He named the business Huerto del Edén—Spanish for “Garden of Eden.” Through years of determination, hard work and the support of loyal customers, the family has steadily expanded throughout the region.
“Opening Peekskill Supermarket during America’s 250th anniversary is especially meaningful for our family,” said Karina Zeor, who helps lead the growing business. “Our parents came to this country believing that if you worked hard, treated people well and gave back to your community, you could build something meaningful. This new store represents that dream, and we’re honored to become part of the Peekskill community.”
The Bermeos have always believed that being a neighborhood supermarket means being more than just a place to shop.
“In every community we serve, we strive to become an active community partner,” she said. “We look forward to building relationships with Peekskill’s nonprofit organizations, schools, civic groups and local businesses. We want Fresh Market to be a place where neighbors feel welcome and where we can support the organizations that make Peekskill such a vibrant city.”
To celebrate the Grand Opening, shoppers can enjoy:
  • Fresh hot-food buffet and prepared foods
  • Expanded international grocery selections
  • Fresh produce, seafood, meat and dairy departments
  • Wholesale pricing on many everyday items
  • Free reusable shopping bag and 100 bonus loyalty points for customers who enroll in the Fresh Market rewards program
  • Massive storewide savings and special promotions during the first two weeks
  • The first 250 customers receive a free hot dog, hamburger, chips and drink.
  • For every $20 spent, customers receive a ticket to enter the sweepstakes for a car. The winner will be announced on December 31st, 2026.
“Our family has always believed food brings people together,” Zeor said. “Whether you’re shopping for everyday essentials or ingredients from home that remind you of your heritage, we want every customer to feel like family when they walk through our doors.”
Residents are invited to attend the Grand Opening festivities on Saturday, July 11, explore the new store, enjoy opening-day specials, and welcome one of Peekskill’s newest local businesses.
