Music Flows Through the Rivertowns: 10 Years of Free RiverArts Music

Hastings-On-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown – RiverArts celebrates a decade of musical exploration in the Rivertowns on Saturday, June 14 (rain date: Sunday, June 15). The RiverArts Music Tour is the largest, family-friendly, free event for music lovers in lower Westchester County.

The 10th annual RiverArts Music Tour will feature over 300 musicians across 27 venues in 4 villages, with live music on the hour from 11am to 9pm in a celebration of music throughout the Rivertowns.

The RiverArts Music Tour has become a cherished cornerstone of our community’s cultural landscape, weaving together the vibrant musical threads that define our unique region. For ten years, we have transformed ordinary spaces into vibrant stages, yards, storefronts, and of course the waterfront!

This year, RiverArts debuts an interactive digital map, offering a real-time, mobile-friendly way to explore the Music Tour. With just a tap, visitors can locate performances, get directions, and plan their experience on the go. Adam Hart, the RiverArts Music Tour Producer for 6 years shares “The enormous generosity of our musicians to share this day for free is the ultimate manifestation of community spirit. Using the new tools on the Music Tour website, you can curate your own program and experience classical, opera, folk, singer/songwriters, electronic, ambient sound collage, acoustic ensembles, country, rock, punk, and jazz. Exploring the rivertowns in home yards, art galleries, churches, public squares, and parks. A day to fill your music cup!”

Jazz musician Gary Smulyan, a six-time Grammy Award winner, performs annually during the Tour in an intimate grassy backyard setting. He speaks of his experience enthusiastically: “The Rivertowns Music Tour is such a beautiful event showcasing a wide variety of styles, grooves, and talent in our villages. I’m really looking forward to being a part of it once again.”

This year’s Tour showcases over 85 performances transforming the Rivertowns into a daylong musical celebration. Musicians will perform in parks, churches, storefronts, backyards, village centers, and along the scenic Hudson River.

  • Gary Smulyan: Jazz musician, six-time Grammy Award winner
  • Singers from The Metropolitan Opera Chorus 
  • The Dang-it Bobbys: country, jazz, and Americana pop blend
  • The Altogether: rich vocals and tight three-part harmonies

Notables venues:

  • Hastings: 20 Marble Terrace, just off the OCA trail by the new Quarry Park
  • Dobbs: Mercy University Pavilion,
  • Irvington: Centrally located, Main Street School
  • Tarrytown: Jazz Forum, a premier Jazz club

The tour culminates with an evening concert from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Dobbs Ferry Waterfront, featuring live music, food trucks, beverage vendors, and the Phoenicia Flea Market during the day.
