Isabel Becker has always loved sewing. After creating an animal picture which she made of cut-up fabrics and sewed appliqué style, she decided to frame it for hanging in a child’s room.
This led to her PIX4KIDS pictures and subsequent Fabric Play exhibits. Inspired by nature, fabrics and the world around her, she designs, sews and frames pictures made of fabric in subjects ranging from nursery characters to sports, animals, sea life, flowers, landscape and house portraits. Recently she has won awards at art shows, including the member show of the Rye Art Center and Beaux Arts exhibit of the Pocantico Hills Women’s Club. She is a realtor with Merritt Associates, Inc. in Larchmont. Currently a selection of her work is at the St. Cabrini Nursing Home gallery in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She can be reached at (914) 591-1332.
