To the Editor,
I am writing to respectfully request publication of the following letter in support of Irvington mayoral candidate Bob Grados, whose leadership and commitment to our community I have personally witnessed.
As a 10 year resident, parent of 3 children enrolled in Irvington schools, Independent/Unaffiliated voter, and leader of the Irvington Youth Lacrosse Association, I’ve had the privilege of working directly with Bob Grados and witnessed his dedication to our community in a very real and meaningful way. Before I took over management of the program, Bob led Irvington Youth Lacrosse for 5 years, investing his time, energy, and leadership into a program that benefits hundreds of local children and families each year.
Together we led the program through COVID, which did great harm to many other programs in the area. With his help and leadership, we weathered the storm, and kept the program going.
In addition, after two previously failed votes, Bob led the effort to create consensus and ultimately pass the $4.6M Fields and Facilities Renovation Referendum. His leadership wasn’t about politics—it was about building community, supporting our youth, and always putting Irvington first.
Bob’s deep commitment to our village extends beyond youth sports. With over 30 years of experience in real estate law and public service, and a proven record of consensus-building as President of the Irvington Board of Education, Bob has consistently delivered results that strengthen our quality of life, protect our home values, and support our schools and first responders.
I’ve seen firsthand that when Bob takes on a responsibility, he brings people together and gets things done. It’s not for personal gain. It’s not about whether you are a Democrat or Republican. He is not interested in higher office. His only interest is genuinely caring about the future of Irvington.
Our village deserves a mayor who focuses on results and not politics, who understands our community from the ground up, who has built trust through action, and who has demonstrated leadership long before running for office. That is why I am proud to endorse Bob Grados for Mayor. I encourage my fellow residents to join me in supporting a leader who has already proven his commitment to Irvington’s families, children, and long-term success.
Sincerely,
Shan Wade
Irvington Resident and President Irvington Youth Lacrosse Association
