Local Rivertowns artist Ethel Zai was born of two worlds colliding in one the world’s most iconic melting pots. Her parents met in Chinatown—him an immigrant from Zhoushan, China, and her a recent arrival from San Antonio, Texas, seeking better medical care for one of her two young sons. But it’s not just Ethel’s unique heritage that comes to life on her canvas.
For Ethel Zai, art is a way to share with the world all of the ‘small moments’ in her life that she holds as cherished memories, and an invitation for viewers to remember and treasure their own special moments in space and time. She began painting only recently in life, but picked up the practice with such ardent fervor that her home now doubles as a live-in painter’s studio. You simply must see this incredible artist’s work for yourself!
