With the holidays coming up so soon, Bella’s Boutique is a great place to find gifts for family and friends. Three years ago, Wendy Goldman moved away from the corporate world and bought the old-fashioned gift shop.
“We like to think we have a little something for everybody,” Goldman said. The Tarrytown boutique has everything from toys, to clothes, to accessories. “We try to think of all the gift-giving scenarios,” Goldman said. “We try to make everything in the store functional. We don’t have a lot of little ‘statues and stuff, ’ most of [our merchandise] is very useable.”
Bella’s Boutique also carries items made by local artists. Goldman said she acquires items from local painters, photographers, jewelry designers and more. “You gather very unique items that way,” said Goldman. “We want to be a bit of a showcase.” For example, the shop displays and sells cards made by local artist, Ronnie Levine. Goldman said she recently expanded on the amount of local mementos, as well, especially since the fall season started. The store now has a larger selection of Sleepy Hollow t-shirts and sweatshirts.
“A lot of our customers say they see things they don’t see anywhere else,” said Goldman, “at a moderate price.”
Her goal is to make coming into Bella’s Boutique a “happy, cheerful experience.” Everyone who works at Bella’s is there to help the customer, but isn’t overbearing. According to her, “If you want to come in and browse, that’s fine with us!”
