Sleepy Hollow’s First "Second Sunday"

Sleepy Hollow hosted its first annual Second Sunday Event in the Morse School playground on July 12th as part of the Sleepy Hollow Downtown Revitalization Corporation.

"I think it went well," said Fiona Hodgson, the interim Executive Director for the organization. "I think we had a good response, given that it was our first event."

"The first half hour of the event was quiet," she said. "Not many people came through until an hour into the event. From there, the number of visitors remained steady."

Sixteen vendors were present, providing Portuguese food, airbrushed tattoos and jewelry. A band played during the event and later cleared the stage for flamenco dancing from Josie’s International School of Dance. Other vendors included WOW Green, Cedar’s, and Tarrytown Floral Designs.

Not everything went off splendidly. One focus for next month’s bazaar is how to keep people in the area for a longer amount of time. There must be more activities for children.

It was a beautiful day, but it was hot. Tents provided only so much shade, forcing people away from the bazaar to seek some relief from the sun.

The next Second Sunday will take place August 9th in the Morse School playground where they will celebrate the Caribbean.
