League of Women Voters Candidates Forums Set for Irvington & Sleepy Hollow

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns announced two virtual Candidate Forums for candidates for Mayor and Trustees in the Village of Sleepy Hollow and for Mayor of the Village of Irvington.

The Irvington forum is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. The Sleepy Hollow forum is scheduled for Monday, October 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

In Irvington, Arlene Burgos is a Democrat and is currently a Trustee and Deputy Mayor. Robert Grados is running on the Irvington First line.

Participating in the Sleepy Hollow mayor forum are candidates James R. Husselbee and Marjorie F. Hsu, Neither is an incumbent. Husselbee is currently a Trustee and is affiliated with Unite Sleepy Hollow. Hsu is with the Democratic Party and Transparent Accountable Government.

There are six candidates running for three open Trustee positions in Sleepy Hollow. Thomas A. Andruss and Jared Rodriguez are incumbents. Carol A.G. Banino, James P. Garvey, Cory Krall, and Jairo Triguero are challengers. Andruss, Banino, and Garvey are running on the Unite Sleepy Hollow line. Krall, Rodriguez, and Triguero are Democratic and Transparent Accountable Government candidates.

Irvington Forum

The Irvington forum can be viewed live by pre-registration at https://bit.ly/irvmayor. There will be no audience participation. Questions must be submitted ahead of time either at registration or by email to info@lwv-rivertowns.org. The deadline for submission of questions is 9 am Friday, October 10. Questions will be vetted by a committee of League members who will submit them to the moderator prior to the start of the Forum.

Sleepy Hollow Forum

The Sleepy Hollow forum for candidates for Mayor will be from 6:00 to 6:50 p.m. The Forum for candidates for Trustees will follow from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The Forums can be viewed live by pre-registration at https://bit.ly/shmayortrustees. There will be no audience participation. Questions must be submitted ahead of time either at registration or by email to info@lwv-rivertowns.org. The deadline for submission of questions is Friday, October 24 at 9 a.m. Questions will be vetted by a committee of League members who will submit them to the moderator prior to the start of the Forum.

The events will be recorded and made available on the League’s YouTube channel, LWV Rivertowns, and on the League’s website, www.lwv-rivertowns.org, and Facebook page. YouTube has closed captions where the text can be translated into any language. The League is partnering with Disability Rights New York to provide live American Sign Language interpretation.
