Scarborough Presbyterian Children’s Center

The Scarborough Presbyterian Children’s Center, or SPCC as it is known, is located at 671 Scarborough Road. The preschool is housed next door to the Scarborough Presbyterian Church on Scarborough Road at Route 9 in Briarcliff.

In addition to their large, bright classrooms, they have both an outdoor playground and an indoor play area, all of which provide a happy, loving and secure environment.  SPCC is celebrating its 20th year as a developmental pre-school, serving families from Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, Scarborough, Pocantico Hills and Pleasantville.
In September 2015 SPCC is offering some new classes:
Mommy, Daddy & Me Classes
The Mommy, Daddy & Me Program offers a gentle and nurturing way to introduce children to school, exposing them to classroom routines and materials.  The Mommy, Daddy & Me Program is a wonderful opportunity, not only for children to socialize, but also for parents to meet and socialize with other parents from the community. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to gain independence and a sense of self confidence, in a safe and comfortable environment.
Toddler Class
Our Toddler class is a transitional class for children not quite ready for the 2’s class.  It starts as a 90-minute Mommy, Daddy & Me class with the children and a parent or caregiver.  Watch your child as they play with other children, explore the classroom and materials, sing, dance and have fun. Delight in their expanding language skills and fascination with new toys, simple art activities, games and experiences.
After a few weeks, in November, the Toddler Class will transition into an independent Toddler Class as the children allow the parents to leave the classroom and the class extends for an additional hour. The independent Toddler will learn to explore, discover and develop on their own in an environment that they feel safe and secure in.
Registration for these exciting new classes is going on now. SPCC also has spaces available in their 2’s, 3’s and 4’s classes for September 2015.
The teaching staff at SPCC provides developmentally appropriate activities to encourage social skills, enhance self-esteem and build self-confidence in each child.  All staff members are experienced in early childhood education.  In addition, head teachers are required to hold degrees in education or related fields. A head teacher and either one or two teacher assistants are assigned to each class.  Many of the SPCC teachers have been with the program for 10 or more years.
SPCC also has an eight week Summer Camp program for toddlers to five-year-olds.  Summer Camp will run from June 15th to August 7th. Children can sign up for any or all of the weeks offered.  The camp provides a warm, nurturing, child-centered environment, in which children play actively outdoors, create crafts, splash in water tables and build friendships.  Each week has a special theme such as Ocean Animals, Camping & Nature or Favorite Books, and camp-wide activities such as decorating t-shirts or having a treasure hunt.
All programs at SPCC are open to the Community.  SPCC is a non-denominational school that encourages respect and appreciation for our multi-cultural society.
