DeCicco & Sons introduced a new pilot with CandyKing, Europe’s leading Swedish Pick & Mix candy concept, giving customers the opportunity to experience one of Europe’s most popular candy traditions for the first time in a U.S. grocery store.

The pilot marks the first time CandyKing’s authentic Swedish Pick & Mix experience has been introduced within a U.S. supermarket. CandyKing is part of the Cloetta Group, Northern Europe’s leading confectionery company.

Swedish candy has become one of the most talked-about candy trends on TikTok and other social media platforms, with U.S. consumers increasingly seeking out its distinctive flavors, textures and colorful assortment. Through this pilot, DeCicco & Sons customers can experience the self-serve Pick & Mix concept that has long been popular across Sweden and Northern Europe.

“Two generations of our family have believed that great grocery stores are built by constantly discovering exceptional products and bringing them to our customers,” said Joe DeCicco Jr. “Like a lot of people, we’ve seen the excitement around Swedish candy grow on social media. When we learned more about CandyKingand experienced the quality of both the products and the concept, we knew it was something our customers would appreciate. We’re proud to partner with them on this pilot.”

“As we looked to introduce CandyKing into the U.S. grocery market, finding the right retail partner was every bit as important as finding the right location,” said Niklas Truedsson, Area President Growth and Chief Pick & Mix Officer at Cloetta Group. “DeCicco & Sons has earned an outstanding reputation for quality, innovation and delivering exceptional customer experiences, making them a natural partner for this milestone. We’re excited to introduce authentic Swedish Pick & Mix candy to DeCicco shoppers and look forward to growing together.”

Founded in Stockholm in 1984, CandyKing today operates in approximately 4,000 locations across Europe, including supermarkets, cinemas, amusement parks, airports and other retail destinations. The company recently opened its first U.S. location in New York City’s West Village, and the DeCicco & Sons pilot represents the next step in introducing the concept to American consumers.

The pilot is now underway at DeCicco & Sons’ Brewster location. Following the pilot period, the companies will evaluate customer response and opportunities to expand the concept to additional DeCicco & Sons stores.

“At DeCicco & Sons, we’re always looking for something new that we think our customers will genuinely enjoy,” said John DeCicco Jr., CEO of DeCicco & Sons. “Sometimes that’s a local product, sometimes it’s something from halfway around the world. Swedish Pick & Mix candy is something people have been talking about for months, and we’re excited to see how our customers respond to the authentic experience. That’s what makes this extra exciting.”
