FRIDAY, MARCH 7

Children’s Adventures in Horticulture – 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Kids ages 3 to 6 and their adults can discover the world of gardening through crafts and activities in the greenhouse. Fee $10; pre-register at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.

SATURDAY, MARCH 8

Lenoir Preserve, Dudley Street, Yonkers – (914) 968-5851
Winter Bird Feeder Identification – 10 a.m.
Learn to identify the birds at the feeders. Beginners welcome.

Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Route 35 and 121 South, Cross River – (914) 864-7322
Sugarhouse Chat – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Stop by and watch as sap is turned into maple syrup.

Seed Starting in the Lasdon Greenhouse – 10:30 a.m. – noon
Two-session class to learn how to grow cool weather crop seeds and transplant them to take home. Also March 22. Fee $25; pre-register at (914) 886-5108 or carolinesgardens@aol.com.

Volunteer Work Project: Clearing Forest Restoration – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Bring work gloves; hand tools provided.

Hike around the Lake – 2 p.m.
Get out for a guided hike around Cranberry Lake.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, MARCH 7 & 8

Saw Mill River Audubon Project Feeder Watch – 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Learn how to identify birds and help keep count of the winter birds at the feeder with members of Saw Mill River Audubon. Info at sawmillaudubon.org.

SUNDAY, MARCH 9

Marshlands Conservancy, Route 1 (Boston Post Road), Rye – (914) 835-4466
Flint-Knapping Make-and-Take – 2 p.m.
Make your own projectile point, followed by a hike. Fee $2 per person; pre-registration required. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
